Secluded Vacation Resort in the Wilderness

We built Wilderness Island Resort for your pleasure and comfort. Our resort is situated on 2 secluded islands on Lake Wabatongushi, the second largest lake in the Chapleau Game Preserve. The Chapleau Game Preserve is covers over 7,000 square kilometers (3,000 square miles) and the only hunting allowed, since 1925, is with a camera. We have very comfortable accommodations, delicious meals, nature trails and great fishing. You can visit us either by float plane or the famous Algoma Central Railway.

Wabatongushi LakeLake Wabatongushi covers over 3,000 ha (10,000 acres), has 27 inflowing rivers and streams, over 70 uninhabited islands, and numerous sand beaches. Lake Wabatongushi is completely inside the Chapleau Game Preserve and there are ample opportunities to watch wildlife such as Moose, Black Bear, Loons and Bald Eagles.
LodgeYour Lodge - We built our lodge for your enjoyment. The comfortable and relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by the many amenities such as the dining room, lounge, games room with pool table, large stone fireplace, nature library, deck and veranda overlooking Lake Wabatongushi.
Your Suites - We have 6 suites adjacent to our lodge. Each suite consists of a bedroom with 2 twin beds or a king size bed, a 4 piece bathroom, and coffee center.
log cottageYour Cottages - Our secluded cabins are very comfortably situated in scenic secluded surroundings. Each 1, 2, or 3 bedroom cottage has a 3 or 4 piece bathroom, large living room, full kitchen/dining room.
18' cedar boat and outboard motorYour Boat - Each 2 adults is provided with a roomy and comfortable 18' cedar boat, 9.9 hp electric start outboard motor, swivel pedestal seats, depth/fish finder and gasoline. Electric Trolling motors are also available.
nature trailYour Recreation - Besides great fishing for Northern Pike and Walleye we have developed our resort extensively for eco-tourism and other recreational pursuits. We have a trail network for nature appreciation and birding. Bear and Moose viewing is very successful and safe. There is excellent swimming near the lodge or at the several beaches on Lake Wabatongushi.
Rock Cornish Game HnsTrifleYour Meals - We believe part of Northern Hospitality is to make sure that no one goes hungry. With large portions of meals such as Prime Rib Roast Beef, Cornish Game Hens, Strip Loin Steak and deserts like Black Forest Cake, Blue Berry Pie, and Cherry Cheese Cake we have never had any complaints about not being full enough when you leave the table. Special diet needs and vegetarians are scrumptiously provided with meals like Pasta Premavera.
