Getting here:

OK, you're somewhere else, and wish you were here. Good idea, let us help you.

First, you need to fly or drive to Sault Ste Marie in Northern Ontario Canada. Sault Ste Marie Canada is drive accessible from the United States via Interstate I75 across the international bridge, and from Southern Ontario and the rest of Canada via the Trans Canada Highway 17. See the map below to get a better idea of how to drive here from where you are. Sault Ste Marie's Airport (YAM) is also accessible by commercial airline fights from anywhere in the world via connecting flights with Air Canada through the Toronto International Airport (YYZ). Chippewa Country Airport (CIU), south of Sault Ste Marie Michigan is also an option for people flying from the United States to Canada.

Most of our guests prefer to take the train or float plane to our secluded wilderness resort from Hawk Junction in order to enjoy the spectacular scenery along Lake Superior's coastal drive North from Sault Ste Marie. This beautiful drive along Lake Superior's coast is an easy 2-1/2 to 3 hours all on paved highways. We recommend allotting at least 5 hours for this drive however, because of the numerous stops you will want to make to enjoy the spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches and perhaps some of the many hiking opportunities. The train does not leave Hawk Junction until 3:00 pm in the afternoon so you have lots of time to enjoy yourselves if you leave Sault Ste Marie early to mid morning, or we can charter a float plane flight from Hawk Junction to our resort at a time convenient for you. Taking a train one way and float plane the other is also easily arranged. For people who fly into Sault Ste Marie there are 2 car rental agencies at the airport, National Car Rental and Budget Rent-A-Car, and Limousine service is also available.

If you would like to take another day or two to enjoy the Lake Superior coastal region, we recommend staying at Lake Shore/Salzburgerhof Resort in Batchawana Bay. It is owned by Doris's family and they provide very comfortable accommodations and really great meals at their resort on the shore of Lake Superior.

You can also take the train all the way to our resort from Sault Ste Marie. This would allow you to go through Agawa Canyon, well-known for it's rugged beauty. The train trip takes 7 hours and leaves Sault Ste Marie at 9:20 am. From Mid June through to the end of September you may also have the option of a 2 hour stop at Agawa Canyon by purchasing Agawa Canyon Combo Tickets and departing at 8:00 am.

We can also arrange float plane charters from downtown Sault Ste Marie to our resort.
