2006 Ontario Fishing Regulations
For 2005, the Ontario Ministry of Natural
Resources has harmonized the Walleye Size Limits for virtually
all of Northern Ontario. There is no longer a slot size in North
Eastern Ontario. Licensed anglers are allowed to have one Walleye
over 46 cm or 18.1 inches as part of their possession limit.
This continues to help protect the larger, spwaning size Walleyes.
The possession limits for Northern Pike and Walleye are as follows:

Regular License - Only 2 Pike allowed over 61 cm (24") of
which 1 may be over 86 cm (34")

On Lake Wabatongushi, and almost all of Northern
Ontario, regular license holders can now possess 4 Walleye and
conservation license holders can possess 2 Walleyes. One Walleye
can be over 46 cm or 18.1 inches..
For Northern Pike, regular license holders can still possess
6 Northern Pike and conservation license holders can still possess
2 Northern Pike, however Northern Pike are now subject to size
limits. Each person with a regular license is allowed to possess
2 Pike over 61 cm (24"), as part of their possession limit.
Only one of the Northern Pike can be over 86 cm (34"). Conservation
license holders can possess 1 Northern Pike between 61cm-86cm
(24"-34") and none over 86 cm (34")
All Walleyes released over 15" and all Northern Pike released
over 24" are eligible for entry in our Catch and Release
program. Please remember, the larger the fish, the more likely
it is to be a spawning female. Releasing large fish increases
both the number young fish and increases size in the genetic
pool.
2006 Ontario Fishing Licenses
Fishing license have only increased slightly
again this year and remain a great bargain. The chart below has
the new prices.
