Your Vacation Resort in the Wilderness
We built Wilderness Island Resort for your pleasure and comfort.
Our resort is situated on 2 secluded islands on Lake Wabatongushi,
the second largest lake in the Chapleau Game Preserve. The Chapleau
Game Preserve is covers over 7,000 square kilometers (3,000 square
miles) and the only hunting allowed, since 1925, is with a camera.
We have very comfortable accommodations, delicious meals, nature
trails and great fishing. You can visit us either by float plane
or the famous Algoma Central Railway.
Your Lake - Lake
Wabatongushi covers over 3,000 ha (10,000 acres), has 27 inflowing
rivers and streams, over 70 uninhabited islands, and numerous
sand beaches. Lake Wabatongushi is completely inside the Chapleau
Game Preserve and there are ample opportunities to watch wildlife
such as Moose, Black Bear, Loons and Bald Eagles. |
Your
Lodge - We built our lodge for your enjoyment. The comfortable
and relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by the many amenities such
as the dining room, lounge, games room with pool table, large
stone fireplace, nature library, deck and veranda overlooking
Lake Wabatongushi. |
 Your
Suites - We have 6
suites adjacent to our lodge. Each suite consists of a bedroom
with 2 twin beds or a king size bed, a 4 piece bathroom, and
coffee center. |
Your
Cottages - Our secluded cabins are very comfortably situated
in scenic secluded surroundings. Each 1, 2, or 3 bedroom cottage
has a 3 or 4 piece bathroom, large living room, full kitchen/dining
room. |
Your Boat - Each 2
adults is provided with a roomy and comfortable 18' cedar boat,
9.9 hp electric start outboard motor, swivel pedestal seats,
depth/fish finder and gasoline. Electric Trolling motors are
also available. |
Your Recreation - Besides great fishing
for Northern Pike and Walleye we have developed our resort extensively
for eco-tourism and other recreational pursuits. We have a trail
network for nature appreciation and birding. Bear and Moose viewing
is very successful and safe. There is excellent swimming near
the lodge or at the several beaches on Lake Wabatongushi. |
 Your
Meals - We believe part of Northern Hospitality is to make
sure that no one goes hungry. With large portions of meals such
as Prime Rib Roast Beef, Cornish Game Hens, Strip Loin Steak
and deserts like Black Forest Cake, Blue Berry Pie, and Cherry
Cheese Cake we have never had any complaints about not being
full enough when you leave the table. Special diet needs and
vegetarians are scrumptiously provided with meals like Pasta
Premavera. |
